Athens Building Corp. is awarded a Design Build Contract for building renovations. The scope of work includes complete interior and exterior building renovations of approx. 35K sq.ft. existing building to serve as headquarters for a rapidly growing local SWAM business.

The project consisted of the construction of 6800 sq.ft of new office and showroom space, renovations to the warehouse to include loading dock equipment, new roofing, high efficiency electrical and mechanical systems. Exterior renovations included new entrances as well as bringing the “ole building” to meet current ADA standards. The original building was part of the previous Circuit City complex of which this structure is one of three adjoining buildings. The challenges offered by the project were to properly separate the utilities, electrical systems, life safety systems as well as the proper terminations to the roofing and parking lot areas. The completion of the project served as a forum for Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell to visit and speak on behalf of Virginia’s economy and the impact that Small Women Owned Business has had on our prosperity.
