Athens Building Corporations was awarded the historical reconstruction job of the Caleb Williamson Farmhouse. The Williamson family bought the 100- acre farm in Norfolk County in 1845. The Williamson Farmhouse is now a part of the Chesapeake Arboretum, a 51- acre classroom that promotes nature. It was designated a Virginia Tresure in 1996.

Historical preservations to include masonry, siding and roof repairs and structural element reconstruction of the foundation.

We have successfully finished the sited excavations, set and tied rebar at multiple locations and installed concrete at footer locations.

We then positioned blocks at the bulkhead locations and filled the bond beam. Subsequently, we raised the front of the house to ensure it was level. After installing flashing at the front and a sill plate, we were able to safely release the jacks.

During the demolition process, the team often encounters unexpected issues that aren’t visible at first glance. In our case, due to significant termite damage, the team must tear down the wall on the deck to provide adequate support for the house.  Additionally, the surrounding area at the base of the porch columns are prepared for reinforcement.
